Narcos: Mexico trailer for series two of the Netflix crime drama
The latest season of Narcos Mexico picked up from the tragic death of Kiki Camarena (played by Michael Peña) at the end of season one. At the time, Jaime ‘James’ Kuykendall (Matt Letscher) was in the DEA agent in charge and tried desperately to save his colleague. The real Jaime Kuykendall served as a consultant on the hit Netflix series.

Who is Jaime Kuykendall? What happened to him?
Jaime Kuykendall was a former DEA agent who worked closely with the undercover agent, Kiki Camarena in the 1980s.
Before joining the DEA, he was a U.S Border patrol agent at the age of 21.
Kuykendall, was the agent in charge when Camaerna abducted, tortured and killed while on assignment with him in Mexico in 1985.
Camarena had been captured by Guadalajara cartel boss Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna) and his men in broad daylight.

Kuykendall worked with Camarena’s wife, Mika (Alyssa Diaz) to try and save Camarena but unfortunately failed.
He was the primary witness in the first of three trials of the murder suspects in Camarena death. He also testified at the second trial.
Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo (Joaquín Cosio) and Rafael Caro Quintero (Tenoch Huerta),were found guilty of the murder of Camarena.
Kuykendall has also published a first-person account of his time as a DEA Agent, titled O Plata O Plomo? Silver or Lead?

Since his retirement, he has carried out private investigations in Texas and Mexico, risk consulting in Panama and security work in Hermosillo, Mexico.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the real Kuykendall revealed what it was like to watch his life play out in Narcos Mexico on Netflix.
He said: “The final episodes brought back some bad memories, especially when they actually picked him up.
“The whole idea that that could happen and exist blew my mind then and it still does today.”
As a consultant on the show Kuykendall want do make sure everything was “accurate as possible.”

He said: “I wanted it to be as accurate as possible, and I knew that they were going to take many liberties.
“I was especially anxious that they portray the DEA agents in a respectful manner, and they did.
“I also wanted it to be very obvious that the corruption in the Mexican government created the atmosphere that allowed the narco crimes to happen.
“But the big thing was the kidnapping and murder of a U.S. official operating in Mexico who was under official Mexican protection.
“And it happened with the collusion of Mexican officials in every level of the government.”

Who plays Jaime Kuykendall in Narcos: Mexico season 2?
Matt Letscher stars as Jaime Kuykendall in Narcos: Mexico season two.
Speaking to People Magazine, Letticshcer said: “He’s [Jaime Kuykendall] very dedicated to Kiki and making sure that Kiki’s story stays alive and that people understand the sacrifice he made for his country.”
Lettischer is an American actor, director and playwright best known for playing Captain Harrison Love in The Mask of Zorro and Colonel Adelbert Ames in Gods and Generals.
Viewers may also recognise him as Eobard Thawne / Reverse-Flash in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
